Wind Analysis
Heidra provides a cost effective wind analysis service:
- Correlation with long-term Met Office wind data
- Prediction of long-term average site wind speed, wind rose and distribution
- 10 year average energy yield
- Uncertainty analysis of data used
- Wind shelter analysis
- Atmospheric stabilty analysis
- Wind Flow Modelling using landform height data
- Turbulence Analysis
- Optimisation, including wake effects in multiple turbine installations.
Heidra has developed in-house software, N-Map, to implement standard wind shade models in a cost effective procedure, allowing rapid calibration using on-site shear data. The software runs in conjuction with WindFarm and takes into account the windrose measured for your site.
The result (see figure) is an energy map across your site, at a range of heights, of the 10 year average annual energy production of your preferred wind turbines. The results quantify discussions with planning authorities and allow a balanced view to be taken on energy yield versus visual impact.
