After initial communications regarding the site location and boundaries, a member of Heidra or one of its recognised installers will come to visit your site. During this visit we will measure the location, height and characteristics of all wind obstacles relevant to your site. We will also need to examine your electric meter to check for access and suitability.
To measure obstacles we use a Leica A8 Disto with laser range finder. The in-built tilt sensor and camera unit allows accurate and rapid measurement of heights. Locations are recorded to 3 m accuracy using a WAAS enabled GPS.
Within less than a week we will send you a pdf report which includes an initial annual energy estimate using the Noabl wind speed and local long term wind rose. The estimate accounts for the wind obstacles surrounding your site and is based on your preferred wind turbine(s). The report will propose a suitable location for a wind monitoring mast to accurately measure wind speed, direction and shear.
Please note that the Noabl wind speed is notoriously unreliable and is only used to give a qualitative feel for the wind speed.
